SCHEDULE: NOV 15-20, 2015
When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your own schedule to guide you through the week.
Variability in Large-Scale, High-Performance Systems
SESSION: Variability in Large-Scale, High-Performance Systems
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
EVENT TAG(S): Applications
TIME: 10:30AM - 12:00PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Kirk Cameron, Dimitris Nikolopoulos, Todd Gamblin
ROOM:13B
ABSTRACT:
Increasingly, HPC systems exhibit variability. For example, multiple runs of a single application on an HPC system can result in runtimes that vary by an order of magnitude or more. Such variations may be caused by any combination of factors from the input data set or nondeterministic algorithms to the interconnect fabric, operating system, and hardware. System variability increases with scale and complexity, and it is known to limit both performance and energy efficiency in large-scale systems. The goal of this BoF is to bring together researchers across HPC communities to share and identify challenges in variability.
Session Leader Details:
Kirk Cameron (Primary Session Leader) - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Dimitris Nikolopoulos (Secondary Session Leader) - Queen's University Belfast
Todd Gamblin (Secondary Session Leader) - Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
