As part of this effort, in autumn 2015, the European Commission has launched several new supercomputing projects covering supercomputing hardware, software and applications. This launch marks an important milestone in European supercomputing research and development. The talk will provide a detailed overview of the European supercomputing research programme, its current status and its future perspectives towards exascale.
